Raccoodoku: Place the Raccoons

Overview

The board is cut into coloured regions and exactly one raccoon lives in each. He keeps his distance: no neighbour in his row, none in his column, and none touching him corner to corner. Nothing is ever a guess. Every board is baked in advance and checked by a solver, so at any point of a game there is a cell that is provably a raccoon, or cells that are provably empty. Being stuck means the deduction is still there to be found. Crosses are your notes. Put down as many as you like, wipe them, paint whole rows with one swipe: they cost nothing and are never punished. There is one mistake in this game, seating a raccoon where he does not belong, and it takes a life while handing you the truth about that cell. 140 levels across fourteen chapters, from four cells a side up to eleven, and the boards do not run out after them. Solve fast and the ladder moves faster: a lightning game carries you several levels up at once.

Game instructions

A single tap puts down a cross, a double tap seats a raccoon. The same tap takes the cross off, the same double tap takes the raccoon back. Hold and drag to paint a path or a whole region with crosses. Start on a cell that already carries one and the drag wipes them instead. Raccoons are never touched by a drag. You have three lives, and only a raccoon seated wrongly takes one. That cell turns into a cross at once, so the life buys you knowledge. There is no undo; there is Reset if you would rather start the board over. The raccoon hint button gives a hint. The first shows the forced move in full, the second explains what it rests on, which is the technique itself rather than an answer.
